In 1928, Story of Decoration Day
Decoration Day was always held at Barber Cemetery just as it was established by our ancestors and elders, who have gone on. Many of the elders have gone on to Heaven, to their second home. This event took place every year and was called Decoration Day. The people decorated the graves of family members who had passed on before.
When the event began, the people chose a song leader who took the lead position at the head of the line. Two elders were chosen who followed behind the song leader. Everyone else followed behind the elders. The people marched around the cemetery singing songs with the leader. The two elders in charge this day were Diane Oudisadiyenv and Walker Tlvdisdi, but now both have passed away.
This is all that is written about this Decoration Day on the 30th day of May, 1928.
